Concept Art Direction UI/UX Illustration
Opened in 2018, the Centre for Ethnobotany features interpretive exhibitions and artefacts which showcase traditional knowledge and customs from our region relating to plants and their uses. Housed in a two-storey building inspired by the black-and-white and Art Deco architectural styles, the Centre complements the Ethnobotany Garden

Burkill's Dictionary
Summary: The impact of plants through their value as commodities is reflected in Former Botanic Gardens Director I.H. Burkill’s monumental work, the Dictionary of the Economic Products of the Malayan Peninsula, which appears as a digital interactive. This interactive is supported by facts on his contributions to the ethnobotanical knowledge of the region, and to the Botanic Gardens as a whole.

Plants Shaping the World
Summary: From opium to tea, rubber and cinchona (Quinine) plants have dominated global trade, shaped colonial ventures and determined the outcome of wars – they have shaped human history and global politics.
Through this interactive experience, visitors can learn about the historical impact of each globally significant plant displayed on a large format world map that shows its origins, as well as stories about the significance of these selected plants.

360° Virtual Garden Tour
Summary: This interactive provides an exploratory interface toa 360° virtual around the adjacent Ethnobotanical Garden, connecting the visitor experience with that of the Centre. Visitors may explore hotspots overlaid onto each scene, in order to discover the geographical origins and uses of the live plants found within each of the garden’s 6 zones.
